Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Katherine Loop has done the remarkable! She has written a solid math course with a truly Biblical worldview. This course goes way beyond the same old Christian math course that teaches math with a few Scriptures sprinkled in and maybe some church-based word problems. This course truly transforms the way we see math. Katherine makes the argument that math is not a neutral subject as most have come to believe. She carefully lays the foundation of how math points to our Creator, the God of the Bible. The nature of God, His Creation, and even the Gospel itself is seen through the study of math. Katherine does a marvelous job of revealing His Glory in this one-of-a-kind math course. Katherine Loop's Principles of Mathematics Biblical Worldview Curriculum is a first of its kind. It takes math to a whole new level students and parents are going to love. It is a guaranteed faith grower!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The scope of Formal Proofs in Maths is to teach students between higher school classes and University undergraduate or postgraduate studies, how to write a formal proof with the true meaning of the concept, of simple theorems in Algebra, particulary in identities concerning equalities, equations and inequalities. This is accomplished by writing four different types of proof namely type(A), type(B), type(C) and type(D) for each theorem or exercise. In TYPE(A) ordinary proofs will be cited in the usual narrative style used by experienced mathematicians. In TYPE(B) a rigorous proof in steps will be introduced to the reader. Each line of that proof will be justified by an appropriate axiom, theorem or definition. In TYPE(C) we will try for a smooth transition from a rigorous proof to a formal proof exposing the way that the laws of logic apply on one or more statements of the proof. In TYPE(D) we will simply write in tabular stepwise form, the results of TYPE(C) mentioning both: 1) Axioms, theorems or definitions. 2) The laws of logic. Hence, finally producing a formal proof according to the definition given in the preface note of the book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematics in schools offering the Integrated Programme is usually taught as an integrated subject, so that students will be able to better relate learnt knowledge to new knowledge and transfer conceptual understanding to application, as many mathematical concepts are interconnected. One driving force to write the series is to provide a guidebook especially for students in the Integrated Programme. The other is to share teaching ideas with other Mathematics teachers who love the subject as much as I do. Features: Each topic begins with a recap of key mathematical concepts to help students consolidate learning. Worked examples are included to enhance understanding and application of key concepts, with side notes explaining some of the working. Practice questions are tiered into three levels of difficulty. Level 1 aims to provide students with the necessary practice; Level 2 to further build the confidence and test students understanding; Level 3 to challenge students with higher order thinking questions. Math Wonderland is one highlight of the book. Activities include extension of the topic, suggested alternative assessment and questions to stretch mathematical thinking. The primary purpose of the Wonderland is to allow students to think deeply about what they have learnt and to appreciate the learning of Mathematics beyond classroom. Step-by-step solutions to all questions are provided as an additional resource to students problem solving process. I hope this book will benefit students studying Integrated Mathematics, as well as those with aptitude for the subject who are preparing for the GCE O Level Mathematics and Additional Mathematics examinations.
