Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was designed as a Daily Affirmation tool. I suggest that you select one each day, at random and you might find that it is the right one for whatever situation you are experiencing on that very day. When it comes to prayer and our quiet time with God, most of us simply want to talk -- to tell God about all of our hopes, desires, painful hurts and sorrows. While God desperately wants to hear from us, once in a great while someone comes along to remind us again that more of our time with God should be spent listening rather than talking. Agnes Davis has accomplished that in From Gods Mouth to My Ears. What a gift she has provided to us as she shares her deepest moments with God! I have found these brief devotionals to be uplifting, encouraging, and challenging. This is a much needed work that many of us have searched for for a long time. Rev. Joe A. Walker

Book excerpt: Is it possible for a person to hear the voice of God? This is not a strange phenomenon. The Bible records how men, women, and children experienced a deep personal walk with a living God. He is not a God of the dead but of the living. The Bible teaches that the Spirit of God lives inside of every born-again believer. (John 14:16-17) From God's Lips to My Ears is a book of conversations from a Living God to one of His children. In this book, readers will have the opportunity to sit with the author and her Lord and hear the gracious words fall from His lips.

What is it that he is listening and looking for? In ""What Are God's Ears Tuned To"", David W. Palmer helps us sit at Jesus's feet and understand what He revealed about His Father's heart. By placing two complete chapters of the Gospel into context, David shows how our Lord and Teacher weaves layer upon layer of revelation into his everyday stories. As a result, we can align our objectives to God's objectives, and invest our efforts and resources into what he sees as wise. "I believe this book can help all Christians gain the understanding, motivation and grace needed to tune our hearing to what God is listening for." -David W. Palmer

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hello, my name is Dr. Ralph Stowe. I have written a book that I believe will be of great interest to you. Why should you even consider a book written by me. Well, let me share with you some of my credentials. I was raised in a Swedish Baptist church in Joliet, Illinois, Bethel Baptist Church. My mother ensured that I got to Sunday School every Sunday. I even received a 9-year pin for consistent attendance. At age 13 I was saved. My father was a carpenter and taught me good work ethics and the skills necessary to earn my education. My first degree was a BS in Mathematics from Illinois Institute of Technology. While there I was privileged to eat dinner in the new cafe. The motif was knotty pine with carved graffiti covering the walls. At the table at which I was eating, the wall read "Zeus Saves." I was shocked. But upon muse, realized that that is exactly what separates Christianity from all other religions. . . our God is a God of His Word! He gives us salvation we do not earn it. He tells us exactly how to communicate with Him in His Word. Since that time I have earned four doctorates and have presented, written, and authored over 50 papers and articles. I have written 3 books and hold a U. S. Patent. My early career focused upon scientific activities, learning how to investigate, evaluate, and present information without skewing the view by my beliefs. This book is written with that benefit to the reader. It is God's Word about how to communicate with Him. Every book has an intended audience. This book is no exception. It is for the Believer in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and as their Redeemer. The book is not filled with heart moving stories. It is not filled with personal examples of supernatural events. It simply presents the Word of God supporting each chapter heading. The first chapter clearly states the steps necessary to be in the intended audience for any who start to read the book and are not in the "group" intended. The book then goes on to investigate. Who are we in relationship to God? The book sites scripture to explain we are set apart by the Father when we believe and accept Jesus the Christ as our Savior, Redeemer, Lord, and Brother. He has made us free from all the power of Satan. Sixteen scriptures from 12 different books of the Bible state we are the sons of the Living God when we make Jesus the Lord of our life. There are only two families in the earth: Those who have made Jesus Lord of their lives, and those who have not. We are delivered from darkness and our identification is with the all powerful God and His Son, our brother. Every thought, word, and action gives allegiance to one or the other of the two families. We need to be careful to identify with the Righteousness of the Lord of Life. So, are you identifying with the fallen Adam in sin or with the resurrected righteousness through Jesus? Who is the High Priest over your house? From Your Lips to God's Ear answers with specific scriptures. An example of how you might pray a prayer of salvation is outlined. "What does 'Prayer' mean in God's Word?" is addressed. If we are going to pray to God, it would be wise for us to know what that really means. Tradition may or may not have it right. A look at some scholarly understanding of what the original words meant and the flavor of what the words were intended to convey is presented. The Authorized King James version of the verses in which the words are used is offered for the reader's convenience. For the rest of us, suffice it to say that prayer is a verbal communication or petition. We can praise God or say His words back to Him in a petition. Another chapter addresses Effective Prayer. There are ideas about prayer that are not scriptural. The book presents safeguards that God built into the prayer system, not to keep us out but to keep Satan from taking advantage of us. From Your Lips to God's Ear presents scriptures that show that by not

Book excerpt: Powerful, effective prayer for your husband is easier than you think. “I have never seen a more practical book on how to pray for your husband.”—Gary Chapman, PhD, author of The Five Love Languages As a wife, no one is more called or qualified than you to pray for your husband. Yet sometimes, it’s hard to find the words. You wonder: What should I pray? How should I pray? What prayers does he need right now? In Praying for Your Husband from Head to Toe, Sharon Jaynes maps out sixteen areas of a man’s life to help you consistently and effectively cover your husband in prayer. From his mind and the thoughts he thinks, to his eyes and the images he sees, all the way down to his feet and the path he takes, Sharon teaches you how to pray for your husband in ways that are powerful, practical, and life-changing. You’ll learn how to: • Cover each area of your husband’s life with specific scriptural prayers, knowing that when you pray the Word of God, you pray the will of God. • Become a prayer warrior who is equipped and empowered for intercession that makes a difference in the physical and spiritual realms. • Stop your mind from wandering during prayer by following a pattern that helps you stay focused and fervent, with faith-filled expectancy. • Establish a habit of purposeful prayer in just a few dedicated minutes each day. Whether you’re newly married or you and your husband have grown gray together, you’ll use this prayer guide again and again to bless your marriage and your man.

Book excerpt: Christianity Today's Book of the Year Award Logos Association Bookstore Award Bookwi.se's Favorite Books of the Year Outreach Magazine Resource of the Year "Be quick to listen, slow to speak." —James 1:19 How would our lives change if we approached every experience with the intention of listening first? In this noisy, distracting world, it is difficult to truly hear. People talk past each other, eager to be heard but somehow deaf to what is being said. Listening is an essential skill for healthy relationships, both with God and with other people. But it is more than that: listening is a way of life. Adam McHugh places listening at the heart of our spirituality, our relationships and our mission in the world. God himself is the God who hears, and we too can learn to hear what God may be saying through creation, through Scripture, through people. By cultivating a posture of listening, we become more attentive and engaged with those around us. Listening shapes us and equips us to be more attuned to people in pain and more able to minister to those in distress. Our lives are qualitatively different—indeed, better—when we become listeners. Heed the call to the listening life, and hear what God is doing in you and the world.

Book excerpt: This lecture, given by Michel Foucault at the Collège de France, launches an inquiry into the notion of parresia and continues his rereading of ancient philosophy. Through the study of this notion of truth-telling, of speaking out freely, Foucault re-examines Greek citizenship, showing how the courage of the truth forms the forgotten ethical basis of Athenian democracy. The figure of the philosopher king, the condemnation of writing, and Socrates’ rejection of political involvement are some of the many topics of ancient philosophy revisited here.
