Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Decodes the Dead Sea Scrolls to reveal Christianity’s hidden Essene origins • Reveals the Essenes as key figures behind Jesus’s trial, torture, and crucifixion • Shows how Jesus, a former Essene himself, was deemed “the Wicked Priest” for his liberationist politics and humanist bent • Examines the lost Christian doctrine of reincarnation and the secret role of Gabriel in the Virgin Birth The Dead Sea Scrolls, discovered in 1947 at Qumran, are generally believed to have been written by a Jewish sect known as the Essenes between 350 BCE and 70 CE--but until now no convincing methodology has linked the Scrolls to the actual life and teachings of Jesus. Marvin Vining builds from the controversial work of Barbara Thiering to demonstrate that the Scrolls do speak directly to the origins of Christianity and even reflect a mirror image of the Gospels from the perspective of Jesus’s enemies. Christianity arose out of a schism between the exclusivist, rigid, and militant views of the Essenes and the inclusivist, tolerant, and nonviolent views of Jesus. Jesus was raised an Essene, but he refused to follow their orthodoxy. Vining shows that the Dead Sea Scrolls are written in a secret coded language called pesher in which Jesus emerges as the Wicked Priest, the antagonist to the Teacher of Righteousness who was the leader of the Essenes. Jesus the Wicked Priest revitalizes the Gospel message by revealing Jesus’s true role as a tireless social reformer and revolutionary teacher. Vining’s study reopens Christian doctrinal questions supposedly long settled, such as reincarnation and the Virgin birth--even demonstrating that these two issues are related. He discloses that the angel Gabriel was incarnate in a living human being and transmitted the seed of a holy bloodline to the Virgin Mary.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book questions the lives of Jesus that say he did not think of himself as Messiah. It argues that Jews held that the Messiah would at first come to suffer and even to die. The Messiah could not say who he was; he would act as Messiah, waiting for God the Father to announce him king. The sayings of Jesus claiming or hinting that he was the Messiah are inauthentic in those respects, yet Jesus knew he was the Messiah. He knew he could be wrong, being fully human and fully divine, so he could be tempted. He died willingly for the sins of the world. He and other Jews believed in the Trinity.

That was the question a somewhat frustrated friend asked while going through a difficult period in his life. Many Christians have asked similar questions or wondered why the Christian life in reality is so different from what is usually professed. This book is a true seeker's manual on the Gift of Salvation. It is for those who are not satisfied with only doctrines and creeds handed down by parents or pastors. It is for those willing to build on what they've learnt, dig deeper and find out the fullness of what God in His mercy gave to mankind in Jesus Christ. It not a book to rush or breeze through, like the Berean Christians, readers are encouraged to carefully study the Scripture references and dig out the truth for themselves. The promise of God is: "You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unraveling the Family History of Jesus approaches Jesus as an historical figure and sheds light on the details of the settings, the circumstances, and the context in which His family lived. Steven Donald Norris—drawing upon a wide array of sources—brings to this work an historian’s sensibility of the broad sweep of events and a genealogist’s eye for capturing the fine nuances that make a family’s own story unique. Typical theological treatments of Jesus tend to regard Him as the Messiah because the New Testament identifies Him as a “son of David.” Unraveling the Family History of Jesus digs into the background and lineage of Jesus and, by uncovering the setting in life—Sitz im Leben—of His family, shows precisely how Jesus was a son of David and how He—by right—ought to be acclaimed “King of the Jews.” In addition, this work documents the connections tying Jesus’s extended family to several historical figures who played prominent roles in the destruction of Jerusalem. Norris’ work provides fresh insights that arise from meticulous reexaminations of existing historical sources. It traces the family ties binding Jesus’s forebears and His extended family to one another and to Jesus Himself and tells how this family’s influence changed the course of human history.

This book was released on 2021-01-29 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is there anything in the New Testament about the need for priests in the Church? Many Protestants would argue no. And if you point out that there is a priesthood in the Old Testament, they are likely to say it was a feature of the Old Covenant that was undone by Christ. How should a Catholic respond? In Jesus and the Old Testament Roots of the Priesthood, biblical scholar John Bergsma convinces readers that Jesus did, in fact, intend for a ministerial priesthood to be a key feature of the New Covenant. Bergsma shows how the priesthood is a major thread holding together the biblical story line—beginning with Adam’s loss of the gift of priesthood in the Fall and the long process of restoring his descendants to a priestly status over the centuries, culminating with Christ. With chapter summaries and discussion questions included, Jesus and the Old Testament Roots of the Priesthood can readily be adapted into a four-part study for personal or small group use.
