Book excerpt: Although the word "karma” is Sanskrit and is associated with Eastern religions, it simply refers to the law of cause and effect. Karma is not blind destiny or divine judgment, but is the principle the describes the natural reverberation that emerges from every action, whether that action is physical, emotion, mental, or spiritual. Suffering and pain are not punishment from a tyrant God, nor are they "normal” or mere "coincidence.” When we truly understand the law of action and consequence, we can see that our lives are a result of our own moment to moment ignorance of the effects of our actions. We create our own suffering, therefore, we can create our own happiness instead, if we know how. No matter what religion or background we come from, through conscious action from moment to moment, we can originate a new set of causes, which in turn will generate a new set of results. This is how we can revolutionize our life. The power to change is in our hands. • Useful for followers of any spiritual tradition • Gives practical methods to change our lives today • Supported by solid science and authentic spiritual traditions

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I want to be a pagan author and write for the pagan community…can you tell me how to get published? Writing for the pagan community is no different from writing for any other readership – but we need to learn the basic rules before deciding whether we have any talent worth pursuing. Regardless of our own personal levels of esoteric learning, we need to go back to the basics of creative writing and see what tricks of the trade we can utilise. We will see why editors and publishers are inundated with submissions of a certain kind – and what we can do to give our writing ‘editor appeal’. We will learn how to develop ideas via lateral thinking, and develop the art of ‘seeing’ through an editor’s eyes.

Book excerpt: Karma is the spiritual philosophy at the heart of Buddhism, Hinduism, and other religions of the Indian subcontinent and it can be a confusing concept. It is, simply put, the totality of everything we have done, are doing, and will do, in this life, and in past and future existences. Written for those just beginning their exploration of karmic thought, this deeply contemplative guide explodes the myths and explains karma's true influence upon relationships, career, prosperity and health. Also, there are rituals to put ideas into practice, along with suggested meditations, a discussion of the 10 Positive Actions, and The Buddha's eight-step guide to spiritual awakening.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surprising ways we limit ourselves and our happiness, and how to challenge the internalized wisdom and circular thinking that holds us back As women, many of us are stuck in feedback loops about how to be successful and happy: striving to "have it all" at work and at home, letting ourselves be pressured into giving every part of our lives 100% until we're completely burnt-out, imagining only a strictly linear life path (college, job, marriage, kids), and accepting limitations without question. Yet the truth is, this book argues, most of the conventional wisdom about driving our life choices is total baloney. In Everything Is Negotiable, Meg Myers Morgan deconstructs preconceived notions about adulthood, parenthood, and career paths that have us limiting ourselves. Instead of following that linear plan, for example, she urges readers to take action now for what we want -- limitations be damned. With wit and verve, Morgan also tells us to forget trying to "have it all," as the clichéhrase goes -- it'll never happen. And, Morgan argues, don't bother trying to give 100% -- we simply can't give anything 100% attention, ever! Instead, this book teaches us to navigate life's necessary trade-offs free of the baggage of our own expectations. Chock full of strategies for where and when to give our limited energy, what to demand from our careers, and how to make better choices, Everything Is Negotiable is for women ready to seize the lives they really want.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of all the huge natural disasters that claimed the lives of thousands in Asia, the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 was the largest, estimated to have killed more than 230,000 people. The scope of damage brought about by this natural disaster urges focus on recovery and post-disaster reconstruction from several perspectives. Here we find an in-depth ethnography of Thailand and the role of culture and religion as an underpinning issue in post-disaster recovery. Following the post-tsunami recovery over five years, the book provides knowledge on socio-cultural responses from affected local communities after natural hazards, and is based on original material collected in Thailand after the 2004 tsunami. With a focus on how culture and religion interplay in the processes of building resilience and decreasing vulnerability, it gives a deeper understanding of how disasters are experienced and dealt with on a local level. It examines survivors’ experiences of rituals and ceremonies that became a part of the survivors’ lives in new ways after the tsunami, offering psychological reassurance and religious efficaciousness as well as communication links between themselves and the deceased. Using observations, narratives and material from in-depth interviews with survivors, relatives, relief workers, officials and Buddhist monks and nuns, this book contributes to the research on anthropology of disaster and to the development of research on cultural resilience and religion in post-disaster recovery. It will be of interest to scholars of Disaster Studies, Buddhist Studies and Asian Studies.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: So, you’ve got Bugs. How demons cause diseases, most notably; cancer, diabetes, dementia, bipolar syndrome and many others. This is a revealing of a long and well hidden truth about the essence of the spiritual element of the human soul. The world is currently in the throes of descending into an era of war, corruption, criminality, rioting, discontent, severe climate changes, etc, just as predicted in the book of Revelations and one of the main indicators of this is the dramatic, and exponentially rapidly increasing, incidence of auto-immune and psychological diseases. These diseases, despite decades or even millennia of research, have no known or determined chemical or physical initiation of the disease in afflicted people. This book explains how this all ties together and the reason for the existence of all religions and the effect thereon by acquiring a demon and how easy this can happen. No-one is immune to this disease and eternal vigilance is necessary to clear and maintain a pure soul. Here in I have described the manner in which the demon entity overrides the programming of the genome and the brain thought processes to cause aberrant behavior resulting in severe consequences to the spiritual cleanliness of inflicted people and then the method of clearing the demon from the soul permanently. The methodology has very strict rules which have to date never been explained and if not applied correctly will lead to the afflicted person becoming worse off than before (also biblical). I have drawn most of the knowledge herein from the Bible but also from other spiritual writings as well as personal experience.
