Book excerpt: "This is the first revision book to be published specifically for candidates sitting the FRCS(Urol) examination, which tests the required standard of a recognised Urology specialist. It provides a selection of common clinical scenarios together with a guide to answering the FRCS(Urol) questions. Each chapter is written by Consultant Urological Surgeons or Senior Urology Trainees who have already been successful in passing the examination. This second edition responds to continual changes in practice: The chapters on urological cancers including prostate cancer, bladder cancer and renal cancer have important updates due to emergence of new evidence and changes in NICE, EAU and AUA guidelines. Substantial revisions to other sections such as paediatric urology, female urology, urinary stone disease, benign prostatic hyperplasia and uro-technology to meet standards of current best practice. Adds an extra chapter on the TNM classification of urological cancers. The book remains an invaluable revision tool for the FRCS(Urol) and will also be useful for individuals sitting the FEBU and equivalent postgraduate urological examinations in the USA, Australia and Asia. Established consultants will also find value in the text as a 'refresher' in areas outside their subspecialist interest."--Provided by publisher.

This book was released on 2020-08-03 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This, along with Book 1, is the essential revision book for candidates preparing for the Intercollegiate FRCS (Urol) examination. Surgical trainees have very busy clinical duties and along with personal commitments this means that time for exam revision is very tight and often done during tired evenings and weekends. Essential Revision Notes for FRCS (Urol) - Book 2 provides a precious concise collection of facts, information and guidance for the benefit of all urology trainees and in particular those sitting the FRCS (Urol) who therefore already possess undergraduate medical knowledge and basic training in surgery. It is designed to be a highly effective tool to pass the FRCS (Urol) and, along with its sister volume, Book 1, forms the only set of textbooks in the world that separates urological knowledge into the 8 different stations of the exam. All content is neatly summarised into bite-size paragraphs, thus removing the task of information gathering and synthesizing which is time-consuming for the busy trainee. Diagrams and tables display information in a visually attractive and simplified way to aid trainee revision. About the author Jack Donati-Bourne is a final year NTN urology trainee in the West Midlands Deanery. He was raised in Rome (Italy) but moved to the UK to study Medicine, qualifying at the University of Birmingham in 2010, later achieving a Merit Award for an MSc in Anatomy at the same institution. He successfully proceeded to obtain Membership (MRCS, 2013) and subsequently Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS Urol., 2019). He has written more than 10 first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals and led presentations on an international surgical platform in 8 different countries. Jack Donati-Bourne has a passion to teach, encourage and inspire trainees and has been invited to lead an MRCS revision session in the Royal College of Surgeons in London, moderated undergraduate exams for the University of Birmingham Medical School and taught on the FRCS (Urol) Rapid Revision Course. He is an avid supporter of Inter Milan and of the "Azzurri."
